In the Land of Ports and Puddles

The last two months have been filled with overwhelming, cloudy days. Shaking my head dramatically, I sigh, this is Portland. Tomorrow promises hours of snow and there is actual despair in my eyes. Will the sun and I ever meet again? And then as brightness gleams through the cafe window, I remember that you must appreciate the moments you have because they are so sparse.
This same appreciation for small treasures is the way I have decided to approach Portland. I know that I am here for just a moment in time and I will focus on the positive aspects of this silly, wacky place. I mean don't get me wrong Portland is a cool and happening, it just isn't pretty. And I really like pretty.
So here is my first expose on Portland, OR : Powell's Books and The Fresh Pot
Powell Books is the bookstores of all bookstores in this alphabet town. I think that many Portlanders haven't even stepped foot into another bookstore. And why would they Powell's is phenomenal with it artistically simple design and used books store prices. One doesn't even have to mention the Powell's swag and the fine stationary that can be found at every location.
Right now, I am sitting in the Hawthorne location in the cafe area. -Yes the cafe is not the awful chain of stars but an independent coffee shop called The Fresh Pot. I cannot tell you how good the coffee is, because I've recently switched to tea. Its a Marcel inspired change. But, I can tell you that the tea is minty and fantastic. The cups are classy, the walls are sea foam green, and the outlet is right next to me, which is just the way I like it.
So now, well this is not that bad of a place to hang out on a rainy day. Its great to connect with you all out there. But now its time for me to peruse the non-fiction section. Oh what am I saying; I'm definitely buying fiction today. Its time to dream a little.

You and I are Human Beings

Never the murdered finalities of wherewhen and yesno, impotent nongames of wrongright and rightwrong; never to gain or pause, never the soft adventure of undoom, greedy anguishes and cringing ecstasies of inexistance; never to rest and never to have:only to grow.
Always the beautiful answer who asks a more beautiful question
